Accra is the capital city of Ghana. Covering an approximate area of 200 square kilometres, the city boasts a diverse landscape. The historic Usher Town harmonises with the contemporary vibe of Accra's trendy Oxford District, featuring an array of shops offering local handicrafts and fabrics, as well as hotels, eateries, and nightlife venues. Victoriaborg, formerly an exclusive enclave for Europeans, has integrated with the central business district over the past few decades. This contrasts sharply with the impoverished neighbourhoods of Nima and Accra New Town.

Ghana is the second-largest producer of cocoa in the world. It is home to Lake Volta, the largest artificial lake in the world. Ghana is also very rich in agriculture, as well as minerals. Ghanaians are very friendly, giving people.
What are foreigner’s first impressions of Ghana?
The moment your feet touch the soil of Ghana, foreigners will initially be greeted by impressive architecture near the international airport in Accra. Stepping out of the airport, the humidity and high temperature becomes immediately noticeable. The roads around the airport are all in good condition; those farther away might need work. If you are travelling to various cities in the country, you would experience turbulent roads. As with moving to any other country, you will have to acquire a taste for the food. The local dishes are easy to adapt to. Vegetarians will have a hard time finding their preferred choice. Most of the international hotels are located near the airport and maintain very high standards.

Expats are advised to buy a car during their stay. Despite the heavy traffic that occurs in cities such as Accra, driving your own car is the safest and most efficient way to get around. Especially considering the recklessness of the local bus (trotro) drivers, having your own car would reduce the chances of getting involved in a road accident.
Would language be a barrier?
The official language is English and more than half of the population speak and understand english. But there are also close to 90 other local languages that are spoken. All Ghanaians speak at least one other language apart from English. A person can get along just fine, as long as he/she can communicate in english.
